In a way, Ford seems to have wanted to hark back to the cars of yesteryears with the Taurus. In addition to the qualities mentioned above, the car also has a super smooth ride quality. The Taurus, especially its SHO trim level, is fun to drive hard and has a solid old school feel to it.

At first glance, you notice the car’s high intensity discharge (HID) headlights along with the LED signature lights, LED tail lamps, the squared off stance that gives it a purposeful appearance, and classy use of chrome to accentuate its highlights. The Taurus comes shod with 20 inch alloy rims and dual chrome-tipped exhaust pipes.

On the inside, you get an audio system from Sony, a heated steering wheel, Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system, 6-way power adjustable front seats that can be cooled or heated, wood panelling on the dashboard and doors, an 8 inch touchscreen, rear seats that can be heated, a navigation console with built-in apps, voice commands, digital screens nestled within the instrument binnacle, ambient interior illumination using LEDs that is available in seven colours and five intensity levels, and a dual zone automatic climate control.

Ford Taurus Powertrain

Powering the Ford Taurus will be one of two engine options that buyers will be able to choose from.
The smaller motor is a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine that develops 240 hp and returns a combined fuel economy figure of 23 mpg.
The larger one is Ford’s 3.5 liter, turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 365 hp and 350 lb. ft. of torque. Both engine options come mated to an all wheel drive layout. The drive is harnessed by a 6 speed automatic transmission.

Safety

Regarding safety, Ford has given the Taurus automatic headlights, integrated blind spot mirrors, a rear view camera, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and ignition, rear cross traffic alert, an automated parallel parking system, multiple airbags, the Ford MyKey, a forward collision warning system, and lane departure warning and intervention. As a result, the Ford Taurus has been awarded a 5 star safety rating.
