As you walk around the car, it’s clear to see the “business at the front and party at the back” approach that the company has taken while creating this car. As seen from the Audi A5 images, the front end of the A5 is straight up and business-like in typical Audi fashion. However, as you walk by the sides and round to the back, you see the roofline of the car swooping down, giving the car more of a coupe-esque silhouette.

Audi A5 Powertrain

Pop the hood and you will find a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, turbocharged TFSI gasoline engine that puts out a healthy 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The drive is channelled by a 7 speed, S-Tronic, twin clutch automatic transmission that is butter smooth in the way it shifts up or down through the cogs. As it has two clutches rather than the more standard single clutch, shifting happens instantaneously.

The A5 is a very civilized vehicle to drive around town, thanks to the fantastic suspension setup that Audi uses in this car. However, the A5 is a whole different machine when you find an empty stretch of road, yank the left paddle a couple of times to drop down through the gears, and floor the throttle pedal. Its 252 hp is routed to all 4 wheels through the exceedingly brilliant Audi Quattro all wheel drive system. As a result, with barely a wiggle, the A5 shoots forward and, if you’re brave enough to hold the accelerator down for long enough, it will hit 130 mph. On a side note, this car can dispatch the 0-60 mph dash in 5.7 seconds.

With this vehicle, you’ll get a larger 3.0 liter V6 motor that has a twin-scroll turbocharger bolted onto it in what’s referred to as a Hot-V configuration. This means that the turbo lives inside the V section of the engine, making the whole thing more compact. This boosts the power and torque outputs to 354 hp and 369 lb-ft respectively. This massive extra reserve of power cuts the 0-60 mph time to just 4.5 seconds, and Audi has had to put an electronic speed muzzle onto it to prevent the S5 from pelting past 155 mph.
