8 years after first going on sale, Audi has given their Q5 a major overhaul. Apart from a good deal of cosmetic upgrades, the new Audi Q5 also comes with all new underpinnings, more powerful engines, new electronic driver aid features, and a revised version of the company’s all wheel drive system. All of this enables the Q5 to continue holding its own among an increasing crowd of similar vehicles.

Audi Q5 Features: All the Character of a Large SUV, but in a Smaller Package

The features list of the Audi Q5 shows that it provides its owners a lot of gadgets and gizmos to play with. Included with the vehicle are Audi’s 12.3 inch virtual cockpit fully digital instrument binnacle, a powered tailgate, a head-up display (HUD) with assistance systems and navigation display, Audi drive select multiple driving modes, and an 8.3 inch MMI touchscreen infotainment system.

Also bundled along with the Q5 are a 19 speaker sound system from Bang & Olufsen that pumps out 755 watts, handwriting recognition and voice control, ambient interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, 12-way power adjustable sports front seats with memory settings for the driver, 3-zone automatic climate control, walnut wood inlays, automatic LED headlights and LED tail lamps with dynamic turn signals, and even an off-road mode.

Audi Q5 Powertrain

The Q5 is powered by a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, turbocharged motor that produces 252 hp and 273 lb. ft. of torque. The more powerful SQ5 has a 3.0 liter, turbocharged V6 engine under its hood that puts out 354 hp and 369 lb. ft. of torque. The drive is channelled through a 7 speed, twin clutch automatic gearbox in the case of the Q5 and through an 8 speed automatic transmission in the SQ5.

Both versions have the legendary Quattro all wheel drive layout as standard, and SQ5 buyers can opt for a sport rear differential as a paid extra.

Safety

On the safety front, the Audi Q5 comes with surround view cameras, multiple airbags located throughout the passenger cabin, electronic stability control, secondary collision brake assist, traction control, rear cross traffic alert, Audi Pre-Sense, hill descent control, and adaptive cruise control.
