Fiat Stock Images – Hatchbacks, Crossovers and Sportscars

When one thinks of Italian automobiles, one is usually flooded with images of Ferraris and Maseratis. Interestingly, the company that owns all these manufacturers happens to be one of the oldest and most famous automotive firms on earth. Of course, we’re talking about Fiat. Over the years, Fiat has given us several cars that range from sensible to sporty, and they all come brimming with Italian charm. Although the model range of Fiat looks limited, the company has a very wide reach thanks to all of its subsidiaries.

Fiat was established in the Northern Italian city of Turin and is one among the rare brands that are now centenarians. The company was founded as the 19th century drew to a close in the year 1899. Fiat has had an on-and-off presence in the United States market. The company was actually one of the first automobile makers in the USA, having entered the US market in 1908.

The Fiat North American division closed its doors during World War I and returned only in the 50s. However, due to the poor quality of Fiat products at the time, the company wound up its business again in the 80s, only to return in 2009 after they bought a stake in Chrysler.

Fiat Hatchbacks

The Fiat 500 hatchback is one of the best known and most well regarded hatchbacks on sale anywhere on the planet right now. This fantastic little car was an immediate hit when it first launched thanks to its cool, retro looks and peppy engine. Prices for this car start from just under $15,000; and it is available in 3 trim levels. Buyers can also spec it with a folding fabric roof.

Powering it is a 1.4 liter, 4 cylinder gasoline engine that puts out 101 hp, enough to make this car easy to drive and chuck about. Fiat also has an electric version of the 500, called the 500e, on sale. It uses a 111 hp electric motor driven by a lithium ion battery pack that provides a driving range of 84 miles. However, the Fiat 500e is quite a lot pricier than its standard version at nearly $33,000.

Fiat Crossovers

Although the Fiat 500 is a pure hatchback, the company has used it as a base to expand their product portfolio into other vehicle body styles. Case in point here are their crossover models, the first among them being the Fiat 500X. Priced at $20,000, the 500X gets some styling tweaks to give it a more butch and outdoorsy appearance.

In addition to the 500X, prospective Fiat buyers who want a bit more space than a standard hatch can go in for the Fiat 500L. This vehicle provides the most number of seating configurations in its class and has a 1.4 liter, turbocharged 4 cylinder motor that makes 160 hp. Prices for the 500L commence from just under $21,000.

Fiat Sportscars

The Fiat 124 Spider is a very cool, very retro and very sporty little car; and it is very affordable as well, costing just $25,000 for a bundle of fun. With its funky looks and front-engined, rear wheel drive layout, this roadster delivers an excellent motoring experience. The engine may be small at 1.4 liters, producing only 160 hp, but it goes like a pocket-rocket thanks to its low weight.

However, when you think of sporty Fiats, the first thing that comes to mind is Abarth, the company’s in-house tuning division that takes existing Fiat models and transforms them into high performance machines. Currently, they make the Fiat 500 Abarth with a turbocharged and intercooled engine, upgraded suspension and performance brakes. They have worked their magic on the company’s roadster as well, which is called the Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. The 500 Abarth and the 124 Spider Abarth cost $20,000 and $28,000 respectively.

Fiat Sales and Offers

Fiat posted negative growth figures for the month of July 2017, as compared to the numbers registered during the same month of last year. The company sold 2,244 vehicles last month, which was a decline of 18% from the 2,737 vehicles that were sold in July 2016.

To make the buying process of Fiat vehicles easier and less of a burden for prospective consumers, the company has leasing plans on offer for all their products.
