One of the company’s latest models, the new Hyundai Sonata, has everything it takes to please the car buyer of today. It’s got contemporary, European design, peppy and frugal engine options, a big bag of gadgets and a very reasonable price.

Features

All Hyundai vehicles are known for having a generous list of features, and the new Sonata is no different. It comes equipped with automatic LED headlamps, proximity key entry, electric rear view mirrors that are heated, bluetooth connectivity, HomeLink, a driver’s seat that can be electrically adjusted in 10 directions, and seats that can be cooled or heated.

The seats also have memory settings, and also part of the features list are dual zone automatic climate control, an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with a built-in navigation module, a 10 speaker audio system that produces 400 watts, satellite radio, compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging for Qi-compatible devices.

Powertrain

Prospective customers of the new Sonata will have three engine options to choose from. The first is a 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder gasoline motor that produces 178 hp; and the power is sent to the wheels through a 7 speed, twin clutch automatic gearbox. Next up is a 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder motor that delivers 185 hp, which is channelled via a 6 speed automatic.

The most powerful engine for the Sonata is a 2.0 liter, turbocharged 4 cylinder unit that produces 245 hp and 260 lb. ft. of torque. This motor comes mated with an 8 speed automatic transmission. Depending on the trim level, you can get a set of either 16 inch, 17 inch or 18 inch alloy wheels.

Safety

On the safety front, Hyundai has kitted out their new Sonata sedan with adaptive cruise control that can stop and start the car by itself, an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, multiple airbags that include curtain and knee airbags, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and lane change assist.

The Sonata also gets an automatic emergency braking function that can detect pedestrians and apply the brakes by itself, a rear view camera that makes reversing the car into tight spots easy, lane departure warning, LATCH child seat tethering points, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control and Hyundai’s vehicle stability management (VSM), ABS with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and brake assist.
