Kia Motors, the South Korean car manufacturer, entered the North American market rather late. However, there’s no denying the meteoric rise of the company in this section of the world. From an almost unknown name when they made their foray into the United States, Kia Motors is now one of the top 10 car makers in the region when considering market share. The company was founded in South Korea towards the final stages of World War II in 1944 and it is now minority owned by the Hyundai Motor Company.

The company’s division in the United States has nearly 800 dealers located throughout the country. Kia Motors America also has a manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia, which commenced production and assembling operations in 2009.

KIA Models

Kia Motors, in recent years, have infused a lot of their models with European touches in their design details, making a move away from the cutesy appearance that many Korean cars used to have. Now, nobody can argue that Kia products don’t look as modern and contemporary as any other mainstream European car out there. A couple of these cars, namely, the Kia Optima and the Kia Niro, are available as both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, in addition to their standard variants. The Kia Soul hatchback can be bought as a fully electric car as well, which will be excellent for daily commutes within the city.

KIA Sales

Kia Motors America sales figures have generally been on a consistent upward sweep for the past few years. However, sales of 56,143 units that happened in the month of June 2017 indicated a decline of 10.28% from the 62,572 vehicles that were sold in the same month of last year. The year to date (YTD) sales also suffered a setback of just over 11%, dropping down to 295,736 units in 2017 from 328,327 units in 2016. Although several of Kia’s models including the Sportage, Sorento, Sedona and Soul underperformed in US sales last month compared to June 2016, a few models like the Kia Optima, Forte and the Cadenza posted positive sales growth figures.

Apart from the usual offers provided by almost all automotive firms in the country such as low APR financing for certain pre-specified periods of time, leasing plans to facilitate easier buying, cash back offers and so on, Kia Motors America also has special plans for college students, recent university graduates, cash incentives if you are a qualified driver partner of Uber, and cash back offers if you are or were a member of the United States military services.
