Opel now has models to cater to practically every customer. Opel has had a colourful history where the company branched out to several different types of products and vehicles. Its ownership has changed hands only twice, with the most recent change taking place in August 2017.

Although Opel entered into automotive manufacturing only in 1899, the company was actually established 155 years ago in the year 1862. Originally, Opel was into the production of sewing machines and, at a later stage, bicycles were added to their list of products.

The company eventually entered automotive manufacturing and by 1931, Opel was completely taken over by General Motors. The company remained under the GM umbrella until August 1st of 2017, when it along with the Vauxhall nameplate was sold to the Peugeot-Citroen alliance known as Groupe PSA.

Opel Hatchbacks

The smallest car in Opel’s model fleet is the Adam hatchback. Available in multiple trim levels with varying amounts of kit, the Opel Adam is designed to make city commutes a breeze thanks to its ability to zip through traffic and park in the tightest of spots. Although its 1.2 liter, 68 bhp motor is tiny, this car has a lot of features, even an optional folding roof which has a starry sky effect due to the use of embedded LEDs.

One of the most popular models from the company is undoubtedly the Opel Astra. Originally a hatchback, this car is also available in sedan and station wagon versions. In the time it’s been around, the features list of the Astra has grown to include equipment such as massing seats with ventilation, LED lights, cameras, and several electronic driver aid systems. In some markets, Opel also sells their all-electric Ampera-E. The Ampera-E is a rebadged version of the Chevrolet Bolt EV, boasting an electric range of over 320 miles on a full charge.

Another well admired Opel model is their Corsa hatchback, which can be ordered as a 3 or 5 seater. This vehicle is sold in several countries, and in most cases, it can be specified with engine options that range in power outputs between 68 bhp and 148 bhp.

The company’s most stylish and swanky hatchback however, is definitely the Opel GTC. Under its hood can be any of a selection of turbocharged engines that range in power output between 118 bhp and 375 bhp. The top of the line model is an extremely fun to drive car, and thanks to its superb motor, it’s a hell of a car to drive as well.

The hatchback section of Opel’s range also includes their least expensive model, the Opel Karl, which is a particularly well equipped car even though it can be bought on a shoestring budget.

Opel Crossovers

Currently, one of the most sought after crossovers in Opel’s model range is the Mokka X. This funky looking SUV is a tough thing that has the capability to keep going even after the tarmac ends thanks to its 4×4 layout. Many optional extras are available for this car as well, such as side steps and rooftop ski carriers.

Next up is the Opel Crossland X, which is also a great looking vehicle due to its two-tone paint job and modern, aesthetic design elements. Buyers can choose between the provided 1.2L and 1.6L engines for the Crossland X. The company also has the Grandland X on sale in some markets. This vehicle also provides its prospective clients of engines that range between 118 bhp and 128 bhp, and a whole host of modern features.

Opel Sedans

The Opel Astra, which was earlier mentioned as a hatchback, is also on sale as a sedan. The car is a very trendy model and it is loaded with all the sort of tech that buyers will expect from a vehicle of this segment. Powering it is either a 1.6L engine that is tuned to deliver 108 bhp or 134 bhp, or a 1.4L turbocharged motor that makes 138 bhp.

The company also has the extremely stylish business sedan, the Opel Insignia. This vehicle comes kitted out with high end features such as an HUD, matrix LED headlights, parking assist and several other range-topping safety and connectivity systems. Engine power outputs range between 108 bhp and 257 bhp for the Insignia. In addition to these vehicles, some markets also have the Opel Cascada cabriolet on sale.

Opel MPVs

Opel’s most widely acclaimed MPV is the Zafira. Although MPVs are usually ungainly looking vehicles, the Opel Zafira is quite the opposite. This car provides masses of space for its occupants and all their luggage, and it does not scrimp on features either. 1.4L, 1.6L and 2.0L engines are provided for the Zafira, with the smallest of them being turbocharged.

Apart from this vehicle, Opel also sells Tourer (station wagon) versions of their Astra and Insignia as well.

Opel Sales and Special Offers

Opel sales in the European car markets registered a decline in June this year. The company sold 93,163 during the month, which was a drop of 8.8%. The company’s YTD ales also went down by around 2.8% during this time. To facilitate an easier buying experience, Opel provides several leasing options and financing plans for all their models.
