2018 Volkswagen Atlas Review: Big, Bold and Practical
The Volkswagen model fleet has grown substantially over the years to include several widely different vehicle types, from sensible little hatchbacks to sportscars. However, the company never really had a proper, full blown 7 seater SUV with three rows of seats. Sensing that this sort of vehicle would do quite well in regions such as the North American market, VW brought out their all new SUV, the Atlas.

The Volkswagen Atlas was designed, developed and built in the United States to serve as a viable replacement for the old Touareg SUV, which did not offer its owners third row seating. Volkswagen has equipped the Atlas with generous amounts of space, and its build quality is as rock solid as all other VWs.

The list of features also includes an app with which you can turn on the climate control before you step into the Atlas, and it will also provide information regarding parking location, door lock status, and so on. It can even call emergency services by itself in the event of a collision.
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SUV owners also get other features such as a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstered seating, 20 inch alloys, a hands-free tailgate and a 3 zone automatic climate control, among others.

Under the Hood of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SUV
Customers of the VW Atlas will be presented with two engine options to select from. The first one is a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, turbocharged engine that makes 235 hp, while the second one is a much larger 3.6 liter V6 that pumps out 276 hp and 266 lb. ft. of torque.
This enables the vehicle to haul up to 5,000 lb. using its tow hook.
Although front wheel drive is standard on both versions of the car, buyers of the V6 version can order their Atlas with 4WD. This version comes with Volkswagen’s 4Motion feature that provides four different driving modes that the driver can toggle between (dry, rain, snow and rough). All trim levels of the Volkswagen Atlas come with an 8 speed automatic gearbox as standard.
