Over the years, Volvo has pioneered hundreds of safety technologies. Inventions such as the modern 3-point seat belt, whiplash protection, curtain airbags, blind spot warning, pedestrian detection with automatic braking, are now found everywhere but they all have their origins in the house of Volvo.
After Volvo introduced the 3-point seat belt in 1959, the company waived off its patent rights (and erasing a chance to make millions) so that everybody could benefit from it.

The SUV section of Volvo Cars for the North American market comprises of only two models. The first is the Volvo XC60, which was recently introduced in the US as an all new model, with prices starting from $41,500. The current version of the XC60 is still on sale but, Volvo will slowly phase it out and replace it with this new iteration.
Apart from the XC60, Volvo also sells the bigger XC90 SUV in the United States, and you can pick it up for a sum of $45,750.
Volvo Sedans
The sedan division of Volvo includes the S60 and the super luxury S90. The company also sells the S60 Cross Country, which is a high riding version of the S60 that has the capability to traverse terrain that is rougher than what other regular sedans can handle.
Volvo Crossover-wagons
Volvo also sells Crossover-wagons in the US market. Customers who intend to purchase one of these vehicles have the option of choosing between the V60 and its off-roading version, the V60 Cross Country; the newly launched V90 and lastly, it’s tougher sibling, the V90 Cross Country.
Prices of these vehicles range between $36,150 and $ 55,300.
Volvo Hybrids
In addition to being available with a gasoline engine, the big Volvo XC90 can be ordered as a plug-in hybrid with an 87 hp electric motor.
The XC90’s sumptuously luxurious version, the XC90 Excellence, is on sale with this powertrain only; a good way to save the planet after having spent $105,000!
Volvo Polestar
Polestar is Volvo’s in-house division that turns their regular cars into high performance sportscars.
For the United States market, Polestar has done their wizardry on two Volvo models, the S60 sedan and the V60 compact wagon. The S60 Polestar and V60 Polestar are powered by the same 4 cylinder gasoline engine that puts out 362 hp.
The Polestar brand has been carving a niche for itself on the racetracks, so there’s no doubting the capability of these cars
Volvo Sales and Special Offers
The company has several leasing plans and trade-in offers to make the purchasing of Volvo vehicles easier. Apart from this, there are cash back offers during the summertime sales and exclusive Volvo maintenance plans for those who currently own or lease a VW/Audi vehicle.
Volvo USA reported sales of 7,303 vehicles in the United States during the month of June this year. This was a drop of 15% from the 8,588 units sold in the same month of 2016. The top seller for the month was the XC90 SUV with 2,751 vehicles sold.
